The weekend is here so I figured I post a few thing automotive that are going on. This will be real local so feel free to add any event you know of. Tonight at 6 p.m. is the Cruise-in at Northpark Mall, behind the Sears store. I think admission is $2.
Tommorrow from noon to 4 p.m. in the Village of East Davenport is the Brittish car show. It's free and there's usually a lot of neat sports cars to look at.
Friday, August 18 at 7 p.m. at the River Music Experience is going to be the kick-off for the Flying Eyeball Reunion. The street is going to be roped off and past feature cars from Wizz magazine will be on display. These will include Jerry's wild Model A highboy sedan, Kenny's cool gold roadster, and Debbie and Darryl's 60' Chevy convertible among others. There will be a live band. The actual car show will start Saturday at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds. A lot of these cars just scream hot rod history. Jerry's Model A was put together with all vintage parts none newer than the early 60's. Kenny's roadster is unique in that it has a 348 Chevy motor in it. If you see it check ou his front tires, their whitewall on both sides. The tires are actually off a Harley Davidson motorcycle. And Darryl and Debbies Impala sports a new paint job. The Fairgrounds part of this show runs Saturday and Sunday. It's worth the admission fee just to watch some world famous pin stipers ply their trade.
