I changed things around a bit, and added a few things. It's as new to me as it is to you, but I think it'll work. As usual I'll try to have a variety of topics, but come summer there will be more postings about car events. You can email me at cruisaholic@hotmail.com Keep the shiny side up!

bad storm rising

Well we had a storm tonight and channel 6 made it sound like the flood of 65'. "Stay indoors, don't drive through standing water, flooding on major streets." River Drive, Locust, Brady and other streets flood when we get heavy rain, but have we grown a new batch of blooming idiots? Who tries to drive through water you don't know the depth of. When the fire department is called out to assist such people, during a thunderstorm, they can't fight fires. This is city planning at its best. It's been happening as long as I can remember, and they haven't fixed it yet. Forget the Freight House, skate park, and other amenities and fix the existing problems. If this city coucil had any balls they would repair the streets, fix it so it doesn't flood every time we get a hard rain, or lose power every time we get a strong wind. If this council doesn't make some hard choices and fix this stuff, and the budget, they won't get elected again in this town.

I thought KWQC did a fine job, as did the city. I don't know what color the sky is where you live, but there are a lot of people who just don't think and drive through standing water. A reminder might be helpful to them. People are imperfect, please don't preach and think that everyone is as smart as you.

Quick question for you cruiser, Have you ever had anything nice to say about the area? It seems to me you could be very successful at something if you applied you blatent dislike of Davenport to something positve, rather than complaining about every issue. Just a thought. (Please don't kick any puppies)

Anon1- Yes they did a good job, but how many hours do we need to hear it's raining?
Anon2- Everyone in this town should be as worked up as I am about city politics. It's a love/hate deal. I have always loved the town, I just hate how it's being run. If I sound like I am preaching, I don't mean to. As far as doing good things for the city, our crime watch group worked to lower our local crime rate by 122.5%. We also got a crack dealer out and got the property and turned it into a park. And yes, now I'm disgusted because the city seems to be going backwards and we're paying more taxes for less services. When something great happens I will be more than happy to talk about it.
