Seems like it's a given that if the city council passes the repeal of the storm water fee the Mayor will use his veto power. I don't think he has a choice. Since the money went everywhere but where it was supposed to it would be a pretty bad hit for the city departments the money did go to. The money is already spent and without raising taxes it's here to stay.
Automated garbage pick-up? I don't believe we need that either. It doesn't save any money up front and I believe it will cost more as time goes on. Recycling isn't working, nor deposit laws on cans and bottles. Everyone one seems to be for spending millions of tax dollars downtown instead of having investors spend thiers. Prairie Heights is past it's prime to be developed, and selling it at less than market value makes no sense. We have a higher crime rate than the national average for a city our size, and it seems newsworthy if we get shootings down 60% in a rough area.
City hall needs to roll up their sleeves, get off their duff, and get some things done that average citizens can appreciate. When many adults are afraid to walk after dark in several areas of the city it is time for a change. I can only hope it happens in my lifetime, or before I get tired of paying for every little idiot whim the city council dreams up.
I changed things around a bit, and added a few things. It's as new to me as it is to you, but I think it'll work. As usual I'll try to have a variety of topics, but come summer there will be more postings about car events. You can email me at cruisaholic@hotmail.com Keep the shiny side up!
