Once in a while I hear some pretty good safety tips, and when I do I like to pass them along. If you have a newer car, or an older one with an alarm, here's one I hadn't heard before.
Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get into your house, just press the panic button for your car.
The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.
This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator.
Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this:
It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation.
Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain.
It works if you park in your driveway or garage.
If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your home, odds are, the burglar or rapist won't stick around.... after a few seconds, all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that.
Remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot.
The alarm can work the same way there ...... this is something that should really be shared with everyone.
And please remember our troops.
I changed things around a bit, and added a few things. It's as new to me as it is to you, but I think it'll work. As usual I'll try to have a variety of topics, but come summer there will be more postings about car events. You can email me at cruisaholic@hotmail.com Keep the shiny side up!

I only wish my car was new enough to have that feature. Someday though!!! As a young poor kid I went through several piece of junk cars on their last mile. Though I have a decent one now and actually have power locks! Woo-hoo for me.
We got our first new car last year, but it doesn't have an alarm either. Glad to hear you're enjoying your ride.
It's my 5th car so far. I had 4 within a couple years or driving. Even had one of them catch on fire while driving. My current car is a mid 90's Neon. It was my mom's car before she upgraded and donated the old one to me.
Sounds like you're coming up in the world. If it's a Plymouth Neon, it may be a collector car someday since they don't make them anymore. My car or my truck don't have power windows, locks, or air conditioning, and I like it that way.
