I changed things around a bit, and added a few things. It's as new to me as it is to you, but I think it'll work. As usual I'll try to have a variety of topics, but come summer there will be more postings about car events. You can email me at cruisaholic@hotmail.com Keep the shiny side up!

riverboat troubles
I haven't said much about local politics lately, but after reading John Beydler's article in the Leader I will. If revenue from the Rythm City is down almost a half-million dollars and attendance is down over 15,000 from last year; is the hotel deal still a go? And with the opening of the Riverside Casino, the new Casino Rock Island, and the Diamond Jo Casino announcing plans for an annex, is it really feasible to move the Casino upriver? Are the people who run the Rythm City still planning on building, and how much is it going to cost Davenport? Is the portable flood wall still included in the plan, and if so why? If a well respected engineer said it would flood the Figge and other points downriver; will the taxpayers pick up the damage after a flood? I figure it must be a go because everyone's so quiet about it. Nothing much will happen until after the election probably, but it might get interesting when it does. This was supposed to be tourist attraction to bring in people from all over but will it?

I hope you are right colonel. Somehow I don't see a pink 8 story hotel with neon lights on it as an improvement. The Rock Island boat is moving anyway and hard telling what it will look like without it. The only set up I've seen that I like is the Diamon Jo in Dubuque. Having it in Ice Harbor with other features like the Musuem is a nice touch.
