Tri-State Raceway
Halfway between Dubuque and Waterloo on highway 20 is a neat little quarter mile dragstrip called Tri-State-Raceway. This track is neat for several reasons. It's in the middle of nowhere, you can't see the track until you're right on the edge of a hill, and it's the only dragstrip in America that is all concrete. You get off highway 20 and a short tractor and wagon ride later you're by the pits. You can hear and smell the action but can't see it until you're literally right on top of it. When we went last year we were very pleasantly surprised by the layout and staff of the track. If this is your thing too you can check out their website here.

I think you're right. I didn't think of that when I wrote the post. It's a neat laid back set-up.
