It would seem that Mayor Windborn has just made himself a lame-duck. Alderperson Howard is on her high horse again, and it seems Alderman Brooke is still touchy when his past record is brought into play. Some people just don't play well with others. Alderman Barnhill is suspiciously AWOL at a meeting that one vote could make a difference.
If the court upholds the Des Moines woman case, finding that fees are illegal; what will that do to all these fees that local government seem so fond of?
I don't believe in the long run she will prevail, but it is food for thought. At least the city didn't lease it's own building for the study.
