I changed things around a bit, and added a few things. It's as new to me as it is to you, but I think it'll work. As usual I'll try to have a variety of topics, but come summer there will be more postings about car events. You can email me at cruisaholic@hotmail.com Keep the shiny side up!

problem solving

I've been doing more than my share of posting on the crime problem. The figures are all over the internet, and I have yet to find one that puts Davenport in a good light. We've been talking solutions, and came up with a few.

QCI said- "Drop restrictive rules on pursuits in Davenport."
Makes sense, they can't try them if they don't catch them.

snarky chick said- "Concentrate on the little things and start giving ticket after ticket and criminals will know we're serious."
Again, if the police become bothersome for criminals maybe they'll look elsewhere.

monkey said- Bill Davis "On the high profile cases he is all tough and a showman, but the stuff we don't see is what scares me."
A County Attorney who isn't putting 110% into the crime fighting effort is a liability.

Jim Fisher and myself mentioned chain gangs. Make them work while they're in jail. Maybe if jail is hard on them, they won't want to go back.

There's a few suggestions on getting our crime rate down. What, if anything, has to be done in your opinion to make Davenport a safer city for us all? And all you people who voted to retain the current judges feel free to give your side also.

Homeowners are not letting up on going after rental properties that are sources of crime and filth. We will get the crapholes shut down for good. The more the city departments cooperate the faster it will be for them and for us. But it will happen.
