Well, like it or not folks we're on the Guardian Angels website. On the upper right hand side of the page under Recent News is the QC Times story about Alderman Lynn asking them to help. To check it go to Guardian Angels.
The Guardian Angels have been around since 1979. They have Angel groups in Asia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Africa, New Zealand, and the Phillipines, besides all over the United States. All Guardian Angels must go through training in legal, martial arts, first aid, and CPR. They also have their own academy to teach these skills.
I don't think these guys are amatuers, I see no risk factor for Davenport if they come, and more of the crimes if they don't. Some that are smarter than myself say the main causes of crime are- greed, poverty, lack of education, homelessness, drug addition, and racial hatred. In Davenport's case that makes sense; homeless come here from all over America for our famous JLCS amenities, and we're also known for all our low-income programs, there isn't a truant officer anymore, and drugs are all over the place. Big glass buildings go up and blighted areas get worse. Our judicial system is a joke and our police department is under staffed.
If we can make zero tolerance work in our schools, why not on our streets. And if it's the same small group of jerks who pull these stunts; wouldn't putting them on a nice chain gang for a few years cut down on our crime? And instead of bringing in experts to tell the city council how to play well together: why not bring in experts who have fixed these problems in their area? And also we need to pay attention, and listen to alternatives. I think Alderman Meyers has come up with some very good ideas only to ridiculed by others. If we stop this "my way or the highway" mentality and have a genuine exchange of ideas this problem could be solved. Instead of blaming people or departments, if everyone offered a solution maybe one or two would move us in a more desirable direction.
I changed things around a bit, and added a few things. It's as new to me as it is to you, but I think it'll work. As usual I'll try to have a variety of topics, but come summer there will be more postings about car events. You can email me at cruisaholic@hotmail.com Keep the shiny side up!

YOu are brillant. Finally someone who is realistic about our problems of crime and homelessness and programs. Why don't more people get it like you do? I think people who can't make the correlation between the homeless and public programs overloads here and crime and blight issues are not wanting to see it. They live elsewhere or they benefit some way in the social service arena. Without crime and poverty in Davenport, a lot of people would be out of work.
We need to power downtown to teeter to the smart side instead of the bleedingheart side.
Good job cruiser - keep posting.
Thank you, let's hope more people get it.
